que Bottle Outreach:
A Year in Review
In 2017, que Bottle began partnering with environmental non-profits across the country in an effort to expand our mission beyond our own product. Along with promoting active lifestyles and environmental sustainability, we want to grow our own outreach so that we have a direct impact on our beautiful oceans, canyons, and rainforest habitats.
Working with local people, regions and partners—from fishermen and government leaders to divers and scientists, the Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) unites communities to help save coral reefs. For every limited edition bottle purchased, $5 was donated to the Coral Reef Alliance to help save coral reefs - the ‘rainforests of the sea.' que Bottle directly contributed $2,500 to protecting the second largest barrier reefscape in the world in the southern Mesoamerican region.
In 2017, Honduras’ first coastal managed-access fishery was established in Laguna de Los Micos, creating an important model for fisheries reform in the southern MAR. With our support, CORAL helped ensure that these sites are part of a growing, connected network of governments and conservation partners–a network where corals adapt and thrive.
Founded in 1985, the Grand Canyon Trust has been at the forefront of protecting the Colorado Plateau and preventing the most harmful land use practices on its extensive public lands. They have supported strong community partnerships working to restore water resources, rebuild healthy communities, and protect sacred cultural artifacts.
In 2017, President trump signed proclamations to radically reduce the the size of the Grand Staircase Escalante and Bears Ears National Monuments in Utah by some two million acres. These actions represent the most sweeping assault on protected public lands in American history. With our recent campaign, every $5 from each limited edition bottle purchased is being donated to support the GCT’s National Monuments Defense Fund in the continuation of their 20-year history of fighting to protect these beautiful monuments. By the end of the campaign, que Bottle will have raised another $2,500 to benefit the environment.
The Rainforest Trust is a world leader in protecting tropical ecosystems and wildlife since 1988. By working with in-country partners and communities to identify ecosystems that are home to the planet’s most threatened species, they have helped create over 100 protected areas across Latin America, Africa, and Asia. This action is crucial, as every day nearly 70,000 acres of Earth’s rainforests are destroyed, pushing more animals to the brink of extinction.
Beginning January 1, 2018, que Bottle is also donating 10% of all profits to the Rainforest Trust, which has helped safeguard over 17.6 million acres of wildlife habitat around the world (that’s larger than the states of West Virginia and Delaware combined!).
The Rainforest Trust currently has efforts underway to increase protection to over 32 million acres in the coming years, and que Bottle is excited to be a part of supporting this project.
